Campaign Tags provide powerful flexibility for custom reporting.  Simply select the keyword that you’ve tagged your campaigns with.  Custom Reports will automatically select those campaigns you’ve tagged with the keyword — so you don’t have to.

This section instructs you how to create your Campaign Tags and apply them to your campaigns.  Read the section in Custom Reports to learn how to use them for reporting.

Creating Campaign Tags

  1. Navigate to Email >> Campaigns >> Campaign Tags.
  2. Select “New Tag”.  Enter a keyword for your tag and then click [Save].
  3. Select “New Tag” again to create as many tags as you need.

Campaign Tags support a nested hiearchy.  You will be familiar with this concept if you use the Folders feature for campaigns, lists, segments, content, and journeys — to name a few places where they appear.  You can create as many parent-level and child-level tags as you want.  The purpose of this hierarchy is to give you a convenient way of organizing your campaign tags.

To create a child campaign tag, simply click the “Add Tag” link underneath the parent tag.  To expand the parent tag and view its children, click on the name of the parent tag.

Import Campaign Tags

If you intend to use many campaign tags, you can first organize them in either an XML-formatted or a JSON-formatted file and then import them into Maropost Marketing Cloud.

Here’s an example of a nested hierarchy of campaign tags in JSON format

{
  "Featured": {
    "Daily": [
      "The Daily Bite",
      "Doctor's Daily",
      "Women's Health"
    ],
    "Frequent": [
      "Living Better",
      "Men's Health"
    ],
    "Occasional": [
      "Sponsored",
      "What's New"
    ]
  }, ...

This snippet of the JSON-formatted file generated the campaign tag hierarchy shown in the screen shot previously.

Importing the file is mainly for creating your nested hierarchy of campaign tags so that you have them organized from the beginning.  When you re-import a file, it will replace the campaign tags that currently exist.  For this reason, once you’ve tagged a campaign or used a campaign tag in a report you can no longer import them from the file.

Journey Campaigns

You can tag a Journey campaign using the “Send Email” action widget.  Add the widget to the workspace and double click it to open the configuration screen.  Tag the campaign by clicking the checkbox next to each tag you want.
