Forms are widely used to fetch user details and are used in multiple areas like webpage, emails, landing pages etc.

**Forms are enclosed in the HTML ‘form‘ tag. The method of submitting the data is POST.**

When data that has been entered into a form is submitted, the names and values in the form elements are encoded and sent to the server in an HTTP request message POST.

With Maropost, a user can create a form and use it for fetching contact details. Forms, along with surveys, is a basic necessity for anyone dealing with email marketing. It’s another way to fetch contact details aside from uploading CSV’s, importing carts etc. Forms can be single opt-in or double opt-in.

To create a form, please follow these steps:

1. Hover your cursor over the Maropost logo and then click on ‘Web’.

2. To create a new form, hover the cursor over ‘Forms’ and then click on ‘New Form’.

3. Enter a name and select one of these two statements:

– Automatically add subscribers to the mailing list(s) below
– Allow subscribers to choose from the selected mailing lists

**If you select the first option, then a user will be added to the mailing list selected in the form, whereas with the second option a subscriber will be able to choose the list/lists.**

4. If you wish to send an email to notify you when a user is added through a form, then select this option ‘Send an email to this address when a subscriber is added’ and then enter the email address in the box.

6. Select the option ‘Skip thank you page and redirect to above url’ if you do not want to re-direct a user to the thank you page.

7. The next option is ‘Include form data in redirect url’. All the contacts fields and custom fields used in the form are sent to the redirect URL.

8. In order to create a double opt-in form, select ‘Enable double opt-in’. A double opt-in helps verify that you have permission to send mail to a subscriber. When a subscriber fills a form, he/she will receive an email with a link to confirm their subscription. As soon as they click on this link, they will be added to the lists associated with the form. Those contacts who do not clicks on the confirmation link, will be marked as ‘Pending’.
